I have always identified myself as a versatile individual, craving creativity and problem-solving opportunities. Over the years I’ve turned to technology and art to fulfill my curiosity about people, how they are affected by what they visually see, and the actions they take as a result of emotional impact. My passion for user experience and design arose in my second year at the State University of New York at Oswego, where I took a Scripting/Markup Language and Digital Humanities course. The notion of understanding user emotions by improving the efficiency and design of an interface intrigues me. I enthusiastically worked on user experience projects at Oswego as they gave me the opportunity for creative freedom, and the ability to apply my technical knowledge - it was the perfect synergy for me.

Later, I jumped at the opportunity to bring my user research and design interests to IBM, in addition to my primary role as an Integration Solutions Engineer. Knowing that my passions lie in user experience design, I connected with IBM UX designers in my free time to develop an internal transition program that supported people in shifting towards a user research career. I further expanded my knowledge base by participating in internal Enterprise Design Thinking practice workshops and receiving my IBM Enterprise Design Thinking Process certification. Collaborating with colleagues to explore UX design resources fulfilled my passion for creativity and collective brainstorming.

Today, I dedicate my time to understanding user behavior and best-practice design principles through courses on user research methodologies, psychological theory, and ethical perspectives. I especially have enjoyed designing and conducting qualitative user studies to understand the why and how behind user behavior before considering design decisions.

And my free time?

Culture Immersion

Growing up in Mexico and moving to New York at 6 exposed me to a vast sea of cultural perspectives, resulting in my appreciation for cultural foods and experiences. I enjoy immersing myself in food, language, and travel - a cup filled as I write this from Maarssen, The Netherlands. I have studied Dutch to the A1 level and will soon start my A1-A2 class!

My favorite food? My dad's Chilaquiles,
a Mexican classic.

Videography

Intertwining my interests for videography and my brother’s passion for Pokémon led me to edit video content. I edit Pokémon-related content for my younger brothers, allowing me to learn DaVinci Resolve and filming strategies such as lighting.

I am continuing to master Clip Studio Paint for digital illustration and Affinity Designer 2, which has enabled me to make some assets on this website. Up next, I plan to delve more into Framer.

Digital & Graphite Illustrations

My dad's and uncle's graffiti pieces and my grandpa's clay bulls became the foundation of my inspiration and interest in art. My interest in Pokemon in middle school led me to hand-draw all 150 original Pokemon on lined paper, a feat I was proud of. Pencil-on-paper drawing evolved into digital media when I joined the Spraycan App in high school, sharing my anime-themed drawings with my 10k followers. Some of my Spraycan pieces now live in my DevianArt account. I recently embarked on a classical drawing journey by leveraging Bargue plates to advance my drawing skills, mainly focused on realism and light theory. My passion for drawing, whether digitally or with HB pencils, will always continue.
